FORD ASSEMBLY PLANT AMSTERDAM
Pictures of Ford Amsterdam from the period that the Transcontinental was made, are very rare. But again I have found new images, so that I had to put the assembly pictures in a separate section (production). Below you will find all the pictures that I have found up till now. After the plant closed in December 1981, it was used for a couple of years for storage purposes by Ford and by Blokker. In 1989 the Amsterdam harbour authorities bought the former Ford site and started a clearance program for the polluted areas which included the demolition of almost the complete plant. Only the buildings that were specailly constructed for the Transcontinental production in the early seventies remained. Today the premises is used by Ford's former neighbour OBA who extended its bulk coal terminal. You can find more pictures of the remains of the factory in the story "1975-2005". The last picture shows the production facilities from Foden in Sandbach UK). This facilities were used by Foden until 2002 and are still empty and motballed today.
