Mark 1 Version: 1975-1978
Early Transcontinentals had the big FORD letters on the upper grill, Cummins NTC engines and isolated earth connections. In a later stage the Mk 1 versions were often indicated as: "Small Cam" which refers to the dimension of the NTC camshaft.

FORD TRANSCONTINENTAL 3 th PLACE IN GREATEST TRUCK EVER CONTEST OF COMMERCIAL MOTOR MAGAZINE: OVERWEIGHT, OVERHEIGT AND OVERHERE, BUT OVERLOOKED? NEVER!!!

In April 1975 Ford completed their Europe heavy truck range with the introduction of the Transcontinental. Despite that this truck was ahead of its time in almost all aspects, unfortunately it never became a true successtory for Ford. Nowadays Transcontinentals are rare and hard to find. Only 8231 units were produced in Amsterdam and another 504 units were produced at Foden bringing the total to 8735 units of which approx only 1% has survived

On this site you will find a  selection of pictures, publications and any other information that I collected about the Ford Transcontinental during the last 10 years. This site is meant to become a register of all Ford Transcontinentals which have survived. This year it is exactly 25 years ago that the last H-Truck was built in the Dutch Ford factory in Amsterdam. Everybody who has pictures and/or information available about the Ford Transcontinental and the former Ford plant in Amsterdam should not hesitate to send me a MAIL. Mark 2 Version: 1978-1984
Later Transcontinentals had a black under  grill with a large Ford oval, Cummins NTE engines and conventional electrics. The Mk2 versions were also often indicated as: "Big Cam" which refers to the larger camshaft dimension of the NTE engine.
