ABOUT ME THE WEBMASTER

I am living in the Netherlands and therefore a countryman of the Ford Transcontinental! I have been interested in Ford cars alsmost all my life, as my dad has worked a few years at a Ford dealership. At the time that he bought his first car, it simply had to become a Ford. So I remember very well our first Ford Taunus TC 1 1600 GT from 1973, which was followed by a Taunus TC 2 2000 V6 GL and several Sierra's and Mondeo's. My own first car was a Ford Taunus 1300XL Coupe, fast looking but terribly slow! Next came a Taunus 2300 GT Coupe which I fully restored and which I still have in my possession. Later it was joined by a Sierra Cosworth and a Ford Cougar.

After my study I started working in the automotive truck industrie, and very soon vintage passenger cars started to become boring to me. No wonder that I became interested in Ford Trucks. The first years it was limited to collecting of miniatures, pictures and brochures. Through an add in our Ford Taunus Club magazine I came in contact with a company which were still operating a few Transcontinentals driving vegetables from Holland to Poland. They gave me the first oppertunity to drive a Ford Transcontinental myself. This encouraged my wish to have a Transcontinental myself, so it intensified my search to find a Transcontinental for myself. Finally I found in Germany a Mark 1 Ford Transcontinental  HA 4231 built in 1977 and first registred in 1978. I bought it from Kissling Motorsport, a German Opel!! tuner who had used the big Ford to pull their race transporter. Altough technically in good condition, the cab was in a terrible condition, besides being very rotten, it was missing a lot of the interiour trim. If I would have known at that time how easy it is to fit a Renault cab, I would never have started to restore the cab. In the section my truck you will find some more pictures and information about the progress of the restoration works. In april 2006 I finally found a solid example of a Mark 2 Transcontinental. Look in the my trucks section to see pictures from my latest Transcontinental HA4435 from 1981.
